Econ is Weird is a live, small-group Socratic seminar for students ages 14–18. Each week, students read a chapter of Charles Wheelan’s Naked Economics, distill its main ideas, and come ready to question, argue, and apply what they’ve learned.
What you’re signing up for:
15 live, cameras-on seminars (14 regular class sessions + one bonus session)
Tuesdays at 12 noon Eastern / 9 a.m. Pacific
January 7 – April 22, 2027
No class April 1
Class size capped at 18 students
About 1 hour of reading + 20 minutes of preparation each week
Recordings of Reading Hacks included
$100/month for 4 months
Students will wrestle with markets, incentives, government, financial markets, globalization, development economics, and more — while practicing close reading, civil disagreement, and applying economic ideas to messy real-world problems. See more on the Econ is Weird page.
You will need to buy your own copy of Charles Wheelan’s Naked Economics. We strongly recommend you get the physical copy, because we’ll be teaching strategies for reading a physical nonfiction book. (You also might benefit from listening to the audio version, which is available on Audible and on Spotify.)
Note: Expect to receive further class information in your inbox.
